Species TM AA Chromosomal Location Gene Symbol Gene Name Reference
Human 1 247 12p13.2 CLEC7A C-type lectin domain containing 7A
Mouse 1 244 6 F3 Clec7a C-type lectin domain family 7, member a
Rat 1 235 Clec7a C-type lectin domain containing 7A
Gene and Protein Information Comments
There are six recognised variants of human CLEC7A (a-f), encoding protein isoforms of different lengths. We present variant a/isoform 1 here as the longest transcript and protein. A shorter isoform of the mouse gene with 199 amino acids has been identified.

Agonist Comments
A series of Dectin-1 agonist β(1,3) oligosaccharides with aminoalkyl groups are reported in [2].
Immunopharmacology Comments
Dectin-1 is a pattern recognition receptor involved in initiating the innate immune response upon recognition of various β(1,3)-linked and β(1,6)-linked glucans from fungi and plants. It mediates phagocytosis and the production of inflammatory mediators [1].
Cell Type Associations
Immuno Cell Type:  Macrophages & monocytes
Comment:  Dectin-1 is widely expressed in macrophage populations.

General Comments
Dectin-1 is a small type II membrane receptor with an extracellular C-type lectin-like domain and a cytoplasmic domain with an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM).
