Synonyms: compound 31 [PMID: 30247908] | TUG1375
Compound class:
Synthetic organic
Comment: TUG-1375 was designed as a selective free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFA2/GPR43) agonist, as a pharmacological tool that is suitable for the study of FFA2 receptor function in vitro and in vivo [1]. FFA2 is known to be involved in regulation of metabolism, appetite, fat accumulation and inflammatory responses.
![]() Ligand Activity Visualisation ChartsThese are box plot that provide a unique visualisation, summarising all the activity data for a ligand taken from ChEMBL and GtoPdb across multiple targets and species. Click on a plot to see the median, interquartile range, low and high data points. A value of zero indicates that no data are available. A separate chart is created for each target, and where possible the algorithm tries to merge ChEMBL and GtoPdb targets by matching them on name and UniProt accession, for each available species. However, please note that inconsistency in naming of targets may lead to data for the same target being reported across multiple charts. ✖ |

FFA2 is highly expressed on neutrophils [2] and may play a role in diseases that are associated with a dysfunctional neutrophil response (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease). As a result FFA2 is being investigated as a novel drug target for the treatment of such inflammatory diseases (as well as for metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes) [3]. TUG-1375 induces mobilisation of human neutrophils in vitro, at a level similar to the FFA2 endogenous ligand propionate [1]. |
