Cetirizine is used to control the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and pollen-induced asthma. It does not cause the drowsiness associated with some other antihistamines. In many countries this drug is available without a prescription. An ophthalmic solution containing cetirizine hydrochloride (0.24%, Zerviate®) was FDA approved in June 2017.
