Immunopharmacology Comments
The IL-17F/IL-17A heterodimeric cytokine produced by Th17 CD4⁺ T cells, signals through the IL-17RA/IL-17RC receptor complex [2]. IL-17A and IL-17F are important cytokines in the host response against many extracellular pathogens, but are also recognised to cause excessive tissue damage and exacerbate proinflammatory responses during autoimmunity. The IL-17 pathway is therefore a major therapeutic target in autoimmune diseases.
