This action stimulates expression of the drug-metabolising cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2B6 which subsequently increases metabolic conversion (bioactivation) of cyclophosphamide (CPA) to its active metabolite 4-hydroxy CPA.This is proposed as a mechanism to enhance the efficacy of CPA-based chemotherapy.
