Immunopharmacology Comments
Inhibiting formation of, and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome is a molecular mechanism that is being explored for anti-inflammatory potential. Blocking NLRP3 function prevents caspase 1-dependent maturation and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines including IL-1β and IL-18.
