Bioactivity Comments
Jobosic acid has demonstrated antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2, in two different assays [1]. It was discovered to inhibit both viral entry (via disruption of the spike-RBD/ACE2 interaction; IC50 11 μM) and proteolytic processing of the viral polyprotein (by inhibiting the virus' main protease, Mpro; IC50 29 μM). Jobosic acid exhibited selectivity for Mpro compared to the (human) host proteases cathepsin L and thrombin.
