Comment: Parawixin 1 is a bioactive HPLC-derived fraction of the toxin isolated from the venom of the spider Parawixia bistriata It is a mixture of complex organic compounds. Discrete active substances in Parawixin 1 are yet to be fully resolved [2].
Mechanism of action includes enhanced glutamate transport via activation of excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2) in the brain [1].
