Comment	Serum from patients with vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT; a serious but very rare adverse response to a chimpanzee adenovirus-based SARS-CoV-2 vaccine [2,8]) activates platelets via the FCGR2A (FcγRIIA) [9]. VITT can be managed with intravenous Ig infusion or plasma exchange, but these are expensive and limited resources. In vitro, pharmacological blockade of FcγRIIA-mediated platelet activation can be achieved by drugs that inhibit the function of COX enzymes, P2Y₁₂, or the Src, Syk and BTK kinases. This indicates that small molecules may have clinical potential as VITT therapies.
