The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) structural motif is characteristic of a family of generally dimeric transcription factors (TFs). Basic amino acids in the helices facilitate DNA binding. Dysregulated TFs activity is a significant driver of cancer development, progression, and therapy resistance. Certain TFs are therefore considered as molecular targets for the development of anti-tumour drugs.
