IκB proteins are components of the regulatory network that controls activation (or inhibition) of the NF-κB transcription factors that play crucial roles in inflammation, immunity, cell proliferation and apoptosis [5]. The IκB proteins can be divided into two distinct groups, the classical (cytoplasmic) and the atypical (nuclear) IκB proteins.
