ACSS2 is a monomeric cytosolic enzyme that catalyses the formation of acetyl-CoA from acetate, CoA, and ATP. It plays a role in the biosynthesis of cholesterol, glucose, and fatty acids. ACSS2 is also a drug target for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases [1].
