Disease:  Mitochondrial pyruvate carrier deficiency
Synonyms: Familial atrial fibrillation [Orphanet: ORPHA334]
Disease Ontology: DOID:0080363
OMIM: 614741
Orphanet: ORPHA447784, ORPHA334
General Comments
MPC1 forms an ~150kDa oligomeric complex with MPC2. This protein complex (the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier) is involved in the transport of pyruvate across the inner membrane of mitochondria, into the mitochondrial matrix for oxidative phosphorylation.
