Immunopharmacology Comments
CCL8 is a chemoattractant and activator of cells of the allergic response (mast cells, eosinophils and basophils) and the inflammatory response (monocytes, T cells, and NK cells). CCL8 can activate the chemokine receptors CCR1, CCR2B and CCR5 [1]. Binding to CCR5, a co-receptor for HIV, affords CCL8 HIV1 suppressive activity.
