Immunopharmacology Comments
Evidence suggests that statins have immunomodulatory activity. The anti-inflammatory effect of lovastatin has been attributed to its ability to inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators (iNOS, TNF-α), as well as the suppression of HDAC1 expression, PI3K/Akt phosphorylation and NF-κB translocation [3].
