GtoPdb Ligand ID: 10718

Immunopharmacology Ligand
Compound class: Synthetic organic
Comment: Compound 25 is the most efficacious glutathione transferase omega-1 (GSTO1-1) inhibitor of a number reported by Xie et al. (2020) [1]. It is proposed as a pharmacological tool to interrogate cellular responses to GSTO1-1 inhibition.

Immunopharmacology Comments
GSTO1-1 acts as a regulator of NLRP3 inflammasome activity, and as such it is considered to be a therapeutic target for a range of inflammation-related diseases that are associated with some degree of NLRP3 activation (sepsis, colitis, obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer's disease, AMD, and some cancers). Pharmacological inhibition of GSTO1-1 can suppress the generation of mature proinflammatory mediators such as IL-1β and IL-18 by the NLRP3 inflammasome.
