Isoflurane reduces tissue excitability by decreasing the extent of gap junction mediated cell-cell coupling. The mechanism appears to involve modulating the activity of the channels that underlie the action potential (including GABAA receptors, potassium channels of the KCNK family, and the glutamate and glycine receptors). Due to the complex nature of this drug's MMOA, and the paucity of (human) affinity data, we do not tag a primary drug target.
