Comment: Enokizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin 9 (IL-9), being investigated for its immunomodulatory potential.

Immunopharmacology Comments
This antibody targets the IL-9 signalling pathway and is to designed to decrease asthmatic airway inflammation [3]. Phase I dose-escalation safety trial results are reported in [6] and Phase 2 results in asthmatic patients reported in [4] and [2]. Enokizumab in addition to existing asthma controller medications did not cause improvement in the any of the predetermined endpoints set in the clinical trial design. This lack of efficacy may be due to the heterogeneous nature of asthma and a failure to target the subgroup of asthmatic patients most likely to benefit from anti-IL-9 therapy [1].
