Summary of Clinical Use Click here for help
Corticotropin is used to treat the symptoms of many allergic disorders, psoriasis and other skin conditions, eye conditions, arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis and breathing disorders, for example. This peptide is also used to diagonse adrenocortical insufficiency.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Corticotropin is an agonist of adrenocortical melanocortin 2 receptor (MCR2, or adrenocorticotropic hormone receptor) and stimulates the synthesis of corticosteroids (primarily glucocorticoids but also sex steroids).
